Also very exciting is the launch of their new blog City Bites. There isn't too much content there yet, but I'm sure it will fill up fast. Their food editor Shawna Wagman will be posting all the little interesting food bits that don't make it into the magazine due to the long lead times. So this site will be complementing the print form and bringing us foodies even more information. Definitely another fun way to explore the local food scene!

101 Tastes to Try Before You Die
Ottawa Magazine has posted their 101 tastes to try before you die online. I don't know about you but I love getting their magazine and going through all the local food stuff, restaurant reviews, chef interviews, etc. This list of some of Ottawa's treasures has had a few updates since it was published in 2009, and it's nice to be able to quickly access it now from anywhere. Warning: reading it may lead to drooling.

My understanding from ottawa Magazine is that it's effectively a reprint of the September story with a few changes because 2-3 of the items were not longer available. That said, I'm totally welcoming the new suggestions. *drool*
(Also, I'm hoping to have the list up on my blog in the next few days, with links and the ones that I have tasted)
Yeah, I share Kaitlin's thoughts.
The list also re-uses a tonne of photos from the original September 2009 issue...
We've been tagging "Tastes to Try" on our blog, but a list maybe a good Friday post :)
Thanks for this Rachelle! Love seeing the list. Some places and products I need to try! Must have been hard to keep it to just 101.
Love the magazine and the list too. Someone told me the list was made up of paid advertisement whish really upset me. I felt jipped. I contact Ottawa Magazine to ask them about it and I never heard back. Does anyone know for sure, either way? In a way I think it might be because of the recurring suppliers... and some of the stuff included I found surprising...
Hi Rachelle: Thanks for the shout-out! We are very excited to have our website up and running and to be able to post food content in a more timely way. To answer a couple of questions from your readers:
1) Yes, the 101 Tastes is a reprint of the article we ran in September 2009. We could not post it before because we did not have a functioning website. There are a few differences from the original only because a couple of items are no longer offered so we added a couple more great tastes.
2) The list is not made up of paid advertising. It was determined by our food writers and editors (who winnowed it down from an original list of 300+ tastes, believe it or not!)
hi everyone, i totally assumed that because the list was just posted online that it was a newly updated one (I couldn't remember everything that was in the original list). Sorry for the confusion! I've re-written my post so that it makes a little more sense now :)
I am doing a checklist on my blog too. Looking forward to seeing how we all fared!
i've posted my checklist. i probably won't blog all the ones that i try, but if i do, they'll be back posted and linked to the page:
